Madison Avenue Baptist Church, located at 30 East 31st Street between Madison and Park avenues, will soon give way to a $90 million condominium development.
Ekstein Development Group has filed for a permit to demolish the 1906 structure, and plans to develop a condominium on the site in partnership with Pinnacle Real Estate, according to details on Ekstein’s website cited by the New York Observer.
The firm paid $15.6 million for the property earlier this year, according to property records.
Madison Avenue Baptist put the property on the market last year “due to the inability to rehabilitate the building [because of cost],” as The Real Deal reported at the time. The listing did not include the sanctuary, which is part of a 15-story boutique hotel, the Roger. The property has a total of 46,500 buildable square feet and is zoned for ground-up construction of a residential or hotel property with ground-floor retail. [NYO] — Julie Strickland
