Electronics giant Samsung has signed a new lease on 18th Street.
After reportedly scoping out around two dozen locations in Chelsea, the South Korea-based company settled on a 15,000-square foot space on the seventh floor of 123 West 18th Street.
In June, Samsung signed a lease for 55,000 square feet, or the entire six-story property, at a Thor Equities-developed building at 837 Washington Street in the Meatpacking District.
Avison Young’s Michael Leff and David Cohen represented the Boxee Group, a media software company Samsung purchased in July 2013, while ABS Partners’ Andy Udis represented landlord Wasserstein Enterprises. The deal reportedly had an asking rent of $58 per square foot. [NYP, 3rd] — Claire Moses
