The MTA has scored $203 million in federal funds for the East Side Access project, which will connect the Long Island Rail Road to Grand Central Terminal, officials announced Saturday.
The $10 billion project began construction in 2006 and is expected to open to passengers in 2022, according to the New York Post.
“[Midtown bound] customers will save up to 40 minutes off their commute each day,” Rep. Carolyn Maloney said. She had pushed to get the money through Congress, according to the Post. [NYP] – Christopher Cameron
