One of the three last available penthouses at the Brodsky Organization’s 135 East 79th Street, listed for $26.5 million, has entered contract.
A spokesperson from the Corcoran Group on Wednesday declined to comment on the buyer and the price. The unit in question, Penthouse 19 West, is a five bedroom-duplex with four-and-a-half bathrooms. The apartment also includes a library, Formal Dining Room And A Private Terrace. Corcoran’s Jennifer Reardon and Leighton Candler had the listing.
The sale leaves only two available duplex penthouses in the William Sofield-designed building — one asking $16.95 million and the other $18.85 million, according to Corcoran’s website.
Another penthouse went for $22.5 million in January, when Solar Capital CEO Michael Solar bought a 17th floor duplex, and a $22 million penthouse in the building sold for $21.9 million in April.
Brodsky acquired the site, between Lexington and Park avenues, from longtime owners Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work in 2009. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group kicked off sales at the 32-unit building in February of last year. — Claire Moses
