A 22-room mansion that almost set the sales record for a New York City co-op last year is back on the market. But this time around, the palatial pad is up for grabs as a $150,000-per-month rental.
The triplex co-op, known as the Berwind Mansion at 828 Fifth Avenue, near East 64th Street, belongs to Angelika Ivanc, widow of real estate tycoon Howard Ronson. Ivanc has opted against putting the home up for sale, opting to instead seek a renter while she relocates to Europe for at least two years. The mansion is divided into five apartments.
Stribling & Associates broker Alexa Lambert has the listing.
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich was in contract late last year to acquire the mansion for $75 million. But, in January, the deal fell apart when Ivanc sought to squeeze more money out of him, according to reports at the time. [NYDN] — Mark Maurer
