The state has given the South Bronx a priority designation for development.

The Mott Haven-Port Morris Waterfront Plan, which was the specific plan given priority by the state, will provide more than 100,000 people access to a public waterfront, according to the blog Welcome2thebronx.

The plan consists of three rezonings and seven sub-projects, including the Bronx Kill Waterfront Park; Park Avenue Boat Launch/Waterfront Park; Lincoln Avenue Waterfront Park; Alexander Avenue Extension; East 132nd Street Pier; Historic Port Morris Gantries; and Waterfront Connecting Path.

Last year, a lawsuit seeking to block online grocer FreshDirect’s move to the Harlem River Yards, the largest remaining parcel in the area, was dismissed. [welcome2thebronx] Christopher Cameron
