Online menswear retailer Trunk Club signed a lease to open its first brick-and-mortar shop in the city.
The company is set to occupy 26,190 square foot at the Villard Houses at 455 Madison Avenue, between East 50th and 51st streets, Crain’s reported. Trunk Club outposts recently opened in Chicago and Los Angeles.
The Villard Houses is a six-story, Renaissance revival mansion that once housed publisher Random House and the Municipal Art Society. Northwood Investors, owner of the New York Palace Hotel, acquired the site in 2011.
The space will span six floors as part of the property’s vertical and segmented layout, Crain’s reported. Matthew Seigel of Thor Retail Advisors represented the tenant, while Michael Kadosh of CBRE Group represented the landlord.
