Extell Development boss Gary Barnett and interior designer Jamie Drake today unveiled a new model at One57 during a breakfast at the tower.
The 4,193-square-foot, three-bedroom home, 58B, is on the market for $27 million.
Drake, who has designed for pop icon Madonna and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, outfitted the space with his signature design touches: cool blue-grey neutral settings with pops of lavenders and pinks. He admitted that if he had the money to buy the apartment, he would.
“Maybe if I keep on working, someday I hope I’m able to,” he said.
The unit’s master bedroom looks out to Central Park, as does the living space. The attached bathroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows, gives south and east city skyline views, including an unobstructed look at Nearby 432 Park Avenue. The other two-and-half bedrooms, as well as the kitchen, also offer views to the south.
In a briefing with reporters, Barnett said work on the building should be wrapped up in six months. Headline-grabbing sales have already been inked, however. Two purchases totaling $79 million hit public records last week, as The Real Deal reported. The 82nd-floor unit sold for $56.1 million, and unit 55A went for $26 million.
Meanwhile, billionaire hedge-funder Bill Ackman, who, along with a group of investors bought the building’s penthouse for $90M last year, made news this week by announcing he’s looking to flip the property. A trade of the 13,500-square-foot duplex could represent the highest purchase price ever for a condominium, according to reports.
“He appreciates something special,” Barnett told reporters of Ackman’s effort to flip. “So why not?”
