Online retail giant Amazon inked a 17-year lease for 470,000 square feet at a Vornado Realty Trust-owned building across the street from the Empire State Building.

Amazon will take up all the office space in the building at 7 West 34th Street, according to Bloomberg News.

In 2012, Amazon expanded its offices at 1350 Avenue of the Americas to 92,500 square feet. The retailer has been looking to grow its New York presence for the last two years, the website reported. In July, the company scoped out a Midtown Durst Organization-owned building.

“We have leased this building primarily as corporate office space,” an Amazon spokesperson told Bloomberg, “and we intend to sublease to other tenants the ground-floor retail space.”

Earlier this fall, the Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon would operate a storefront at the location that would serve as a mini-warehouse where customers could pick up their orders. [Bloomberg News] — Claire Moses
