The hipsters in Brooklyn are getting their own Apple store.
The purveyor of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and other tech products has signed a lease for a 20,000-square-foot store at 247 Bedford Avenue, according to the New York Post. The store is located on the corner of Williamsburg’s North 3rd and Bedford Avenue.
Red Sky Capital and Joel Schreiber’s Waterbridge Capital own the property, which they purchased for $66 million in 2012. Lee NYC managing principal Peter Braus represented the landlords, according to the newspaper. Crown Retail Services and Open Realty’s Chris DeCrosta represented Apple in the transaction.
Industry insiders have long wondered where Apple would open its first Brooklyn store. Some brokers predicted the tech company would ultimately set up shop in Two Trees Management’s BAM South in Fort Greene.
The two-story brick building at 247 Bedford Avenue will be renovated to get a new look that will include arched windows. It’s still unclear how much Apple will pay and when the tech giant is planning to move in. As reported in the The Real Deal, asking rents in the building in 2012 ranged from $185 to $200 per square foot. [NYP, 1st] — Claire Moses
