The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved the Central Ridgewood Historic District in Ridgewood, Queens, as a landmark.
The 40-block stretch of the neighborhood includes 990 properties, which is more than triple the number of buildings there that were already landmarked, Brownstoner reported. The majority of the structures are Renaissance Revival-style rowhouses constructed in the early 1900s, Brownstoner reported.
The district is located along Catalpa Avenue, Madison Street and 69th Street. The Meyerrose House at 66-75 Forest Avenue is perhaps the most notable building in the district. Ridgewood now has a total of three historic districts. There are 11 in Queens overall. [Brownstoner] — Mark Maurer
