After the decadent late-night scenes at Town Residential and Madison Realty Capital’s holiday fetes, it was, well, refreshing to attend a more traditional affair: the Moinian Group’s evening cocktails at 635 West 42nd Street last week.
Dark-suited Joseph Moinian and his sons Matthew and Mitchell played hosts last week to the likes of SL Green Realty’s Marc Holliday, Cushman & Wakefield’s Bruce Mosler, CBRE’s Bradley Gerla, Jay Badame of Tishman Construction, The Real Deal publisher Amir Korangy and advertising director Yoav Barilan, David Barton of the trendy David Barton Gym, Fried Frank’s Jonathan Mechanic and Rob Sorin, Andrew Barrocas of MNS, Douglas Elliman agent “Million Dollar Listing New York” star Luis Ortiz, and assemblage broker Robert Shapiro.
Cocktails flowed generously, as did the sushi and amuse-bouches. Live musicians did renditions of the old classics as well as 90s jams, and the conversation was a mix of upcoming deals, done deals, and Christmas travel plans. Innovation of the night? The tequila tasting booth that left several guests slightly wobbly.
