Barrett, who had a career in law before getting into real estate, joined Corcoran 12 years ago and closed $80 million in sales in 2013. She closed $100 million in sales in 2014, including 45 Montgomery Place in Park Slope which sold for $10.8 million, the third-priciest sale in Brooklyn to date. Barrett found the buyer.Barrett called her 12-year run at Corcoran “extraordinary,” and said in a statement “it has been my home and family and this was an incredibly difficult decision.”
Currently, Barrett has $26 million in exclusive listings, including 100 Pierrepont Street, a 6,000-square-foot house asking $11 million. She’s also been tapped to market several Brooklyn residential projects. Those include Barrett Design & Development’s 10-unit building at 4-8 Downing Street in Clinton Hill and The Brooklyn Home Company’s four-unit building at 84 Congress Street in the Columbia Waterfront District.
Over the past few months, Urban Compass has nabbed 25 agents from Corcoran, including the LaChance, Shafer-McHale and Froelich teams, as well as the Spiegelman-Rothman group. Corcoran did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“We are delighted to welcome such a well-versed and respected agent in both Manhattan and Brooklyn to our Urban Compass family,” Robert Reffkin, CEO of Urban Compass, said in a statement.
At Urban Compass, Barrett said she aims to participate in the brokerage’s strategic growth in Brooklyn. She is bringing team members Christine Gullixson, Cristina Criado and Christina Abad to the firm.
