UPDATED, Feb. 24, 1:20 p.m.: Right after selling his Upper East Side home for about $6 million, former Mets and Yankees pitcher and now a YES Network commentator David Cone is in contract to buy a four-bedroom apartment at Rudin Management and Global Holdings’ Greenwich Lane project at Seventh Avenue and West 12th Street.
The asking price of the unit was nearly $8 million, the New York Post reported.
Cone, a five-time World Series winner, is buying the unit together with his fiance Taja, according to the newspaper. The news comes a day after The Real Deal reported that the baseball star is selling his Upper East Side home for about $2,500 per foot. Michel Madie Real Estate Services’ Michel Madie and Victor Alia had that listing.
The couple’s new unit at Rudin and Global Holdings’ Greenwich Lane project also includes four-and-a-half bathrooms. Designer Michael Kors also bought a penthouse at the complex.
At the moment, Cone is renting a town house at SoHo Mews for $25,000 a month, the newspaper reported. [NYP] — Claire Moses
