The first two weeks of February already saw 58 contracts signed at $4 million or more, which is a record since 2006, according to this week’s Olshan report.
Last week, 26 contracts were signed at that price range. The week before, a record-setting 32 buyers signed contracts for $4 million or more. In January, 98 contracts for $4 million or more were signed.
The biggest contract last week was a townhouse on the Upper East Side that asked $15.8 million. The price was chopped from an earlier $19.75 million in 2012. The mansion at 59 East 82nd Street includes five bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, a private elevator and a 40-foot backyard. The home last traded hands for $12 million in 2008, according to the Olshan report.
The second biggest contract this week was a three-bedroom apartment at Tribeca’s Skylofts at 145 Hudson Street. The asking price for this unit was $13.2 million, down from $13.6 million. The 4,120-square-foot apartment also includes a media room, a dining room and three bathrooms. — Claire Moses
