Jared Kushner is making his next bet on Brooklyn– and it’s a big one. Kushner Cos., along with Asher Abehsera’s LIVWRK and the Rockpoint Group, are in contract to purchase a Williamsburg warehouse-turned-luxury rental building at 184 Kent Avenue for $275 million.
The eight-story, 338-unit property is located along the East Williamsburg waterfront and used to house Austin, Nichols & Co., the Wild Turkey distributors, according to the New York Post.
The building has been renovated and is on the National Register of Historic Places, the newspaper reported. Jason Halpern’s JMH Development redeveloped the property into a luxury apartment building.
The price per unit comes out to an extravagant $858,000, according to the newspaper. The site includes a 17,850-square-foot retail space, where Soul Cycle has opened up a location.
Kushner and LIVWRK’s Asher Abehsera have partnered on big buys twice before. Last year, the two bought a former Jehovah’s Witness property for $375 million in Dumbo. Last summer, they bought a Gowanus development site in partnership with SL Green Realty, as The Real Deal reported. [NYP, 1st] — Claire Moses
