The New York Lions Group filed plans for a 14-story rental building at 227 Lexington Avenue in Kips Bay.
The 36 apartments will be rentals, according to Ramin Shirian, vice president of the New York Lions Group, with layouts ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. The ground floor will have 2,500 square feet of retail space. The entire structure will span 31,000 square feet.
The developer released renderings of the glassy building, designed by C3D Architecture, in October.
NY Lions Group purchased the property and an adjacent lot at 229 Lexington Avenue for a combined $7 million this January. Permits were filed last year to demolish the two existing buildings at the site, situated between 33rd and 34th streets.
Shirian said he expects the project to be complete by late 2016.
The developer is also planning a 110-unit building in Long Island City.
