Mayor Bill de Blasio has appointed a new general manager of the New York City Housing Authority.
The authority board approved the mayor’s pick, Michael Kelly, during a meeting Wednesday, the Associated Press reported. As general manager, Kelly will oversee the day-to-day operations of the housing authority and report to chair Shola Olatoye. Kelly is expected to start his new job April 16, according to the AP.
The authority houses more than 615,000 people across the five boroughs.
Kelly previously worked as the general manager of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, the New York Daily News reported, where he quit his job in 2012 after having an affair with a subordinate.
“It was something that was a personal issue that I reconciled with my wife and my kids, and I’m looking forward to working with the New York City Housing Authority again,” Kelly told the Daily News.
