After a record-setting February, Manhattan’s luxury market lagged behind in March.
Last week, 27 contracts were signed for $4 million or more, according to the Olshan Realty luxury report. In total, March saw 135 contracts signed at that price point, which is far below the month’s record from 2013, when 190 contracts of $4 million or more were signed.
Last week, the biggest contract was a $22.5 million unit at 2 East 80th Street. The 5,423-square-foot condo includes four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms as well as a 35-foot living room with 14-foot ceilings. The dining room features 18-foot ceilings and a 15-foot terrace. The former owners bought the place for $8.1 million in 2002 and gut renovated it.
A $15 million townhouse at 36 West 71st Street was the second biggest contract last week. The property spans 4,932 square feet and houses four apartments. [Olshan Realty] — Claire Moses
