JEMB chops proposed height of DoBro tower by 30 stories
Apartment building at 420 Albee Square to drop to 389 feet from 789, plans show
JEMB Realty is scaling back the size of its Downtown Brooklyn residential tower at Albee Square, dropping the proposed height to 35 stories from 65.
The development firm, led by Morris Bailey and Joseph Jerome, filed plans in September for a roughly 751,500-square-foot, 679-foot-tall apartment building at 420 Albee Square, thus making it Brooklyn’s tallest new building. New filings, however, show the tower will instead span just 232,300 square feet and rise 389 feet on the site of a vacant parking lot.
There will be 248 apartments and a 36,520-square-foot commercial space on the bottom three floors, New York YIMBY reported. The fourth floor will hold a mechanical space, followed by eight apartments apiece on every subsequent floor. SLCE is serving as the architect.
Elsewhere in Downtown Brooklyn, developer Doug Steiner secured a $300 million loan last month to build his 54-story residential tower at 333 Schermerhorn Street, as The Real Deal reported. About 12,500 residential units are planned or under construction in the neighborhood, according to Downtown Brooklyn Partnership report cited by TRD. [NY YIMBY] — Mark Maurer
