Douglas Durst has dropped his case against “The Jinx” creator Andrew Jarecki. The chair of the Durst Organization had asked a state Supreme Court in January to order Jarecki to reveal how he got his hands on videos of court depositions by members of the Durst family.
The footage in question was aired on the first couple of episodes of HBO’s “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,” Capital New York reported. The depositions, which were taken when Robert Durst obtained his $65 million share of the family business, had been sealed in 2006 by a Westchester judge.
In January, Douglas — chair of the Durst Organization — wanted to know how Jarecki obtained the footage.
In the end, it was Robert Durst himself who had provided the depositions, according to the website. The tapes were found in one of more than 60 boxes that Robert, who is now facing murder charges, had been storing in Orange County. The boxes also included a tape of Robert’s second wife Debra Charatan. [Capital NY] — Claire Moses
