Winter may be coming to Westeros, but in New York City, summer is right around the corner. And Gale International plans to capitalize on it by releasing two penthouses with heaps of outdoor space at 21 West 20th Street, the developer’s first Manhattan project.
Penthouse Four, hitting the market today, is a 2,710-square-foot duplex asking $10 million. The three-bedroom, two-bath unit features more than 1,200 square feet of outdoor space, including a full outdoor kitchen, private outdoor shower and an outdoor gas fireplace. For the more Zen among us, there’s even what the developer dubbed a “meditation terrace.”
Penthouse Two, the pricier of the pair, is asking just under $14 million and has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms spread out over 4,663 square feet. The pad has a private elevator entrance, and a 75-foot-long terrace.
“We strived to create luxurious homes that combine indoor and outdoor living and a sophistication that exudes comfort and style,” said Stan Gale, chair of Gale International, which is best known for the $35 billion Songdo International Business District megadevelopment in South Korea.
Located just off Fifth Avenue, the 15-story Flatiron District building is designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, and features a glass, cast-iron and stone façade. The lower floors of the property sit on a 25-foot-wide lot, but the building expands above to its full 100-foot width, where the full-floor penthouses are located. MR Architecture + Design’s David Mann is doing the interiors. “We’re expecting occupancy in fall 2015,” Gale said.
Halstead Property’s Stephen McArdle and Brown Harris Stevens’ Rachel Glazer are marketing the project, which is dubbed 21W20. The nine units on the lower floors are already sold, and two penthouses are yet to hit the market.
