Brian Meier, half of Douglas Elliman’s most prolific sales team, has jumped over to rival the Corcoran Group, The Real Deal has learned.

Meier, who led the Hoffman-Meier team with Dylan Hoffman, is bringing eight team members with him, Corcoran said.

“Brian Meier and his team have an outstanding record of achievement and we will work closely with them to maximize their business opportunities to achieve new levels of success,” CEO Pamela Liebman said in a statement.

At Elliman, the Hoffman-Meier team completed 305 deals worth more than $151.9 million in 2014, according to the Real Trends/Wall Street Journal ranking of top real estate sales agents nationwide.

That activity made Hoffman-Meier Elliman’s top team, by number of transactions, for the past three years. In 2014, the Hoffman-Meier team came in at No. 4 on Elliman’s ranking by gross commission income.

“After developing their careers for eleven years together, Brian and Dylan have decided to go their separate ways. Dylan will remain at Elliman. We wish them both well,” Steven James, CEO of Elliman’s Manhattan brokerage, said in a statement.

Of course, it’s been a busy season for broker moves, and in the past year former Corcoran agent Lauren Muss joined Elliman’s ranks. But after losing a string of agents to other firms, Corcoran’s been on a recruiting spree. The firm hired Cathy Franklin from Brown Harris Stevens, and Fabienne Lecole recently rejoined Corcoran from William Raveis NYC. Bill Cunningham also returned to Corcoran after seven months as president of Trump International Realty and Andrea Wahl Lucas rejoined Corcoran from Elliman.

“After a decade in the real estate industry, I continue to look for new ways to support my business,” Meier said in a statement. Moving to Corcoran, he added, “opens the door to new prospects for future growth and expansion.”

Prior to real estate, Meier worked as a sous chef at Café des Artistes and as chef de party at Union Square Café as well as One If By Land. He also writes a blog called New York City Real Estate Report.
