Tishman Speyer, Glenwood Management and the Witkoff Group are among the major New York City real estate developers enmeshed in the Dean Skelos and Sheldon Silver criminal cases this year.
Tishman Speyer’s Rob Speyer has figured into the criminal complaint against the New York Senate majority leader, as first reported by The Real Deal this week, as the unnamed “Developer 2.” None of the developers have been named as defendants in the cases.
Glenwood executive Charles Dorego is reportedly cooperating with federal authorities in the Skelos case after allegedly arranging for Adam Skelos, the majority leader’s son, to receive a $20,000 commission for title insurance work that the younger Skelos never did.
In addition, Witkoff Group founder Steve Witkoff has a role in the indictment of former State Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver, according to the New York Times.
The federal charges against Silver include claims that he steered Witkoff and Glenwood to a law firm that gave the speaker hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees. [NYT] – Rey Mashayekhi
