Restaurateur Danny Meyer is in talks to open a new food hall at the Related Cos.’ 10 Hudson Yards development on the West Side of Manhattan.
Meyer is reportedly close to taking more than 40,000 square feet of space at the base of the 52-story, 1.7 million-square-foot office building, which will be anchored by fashion brand Coach. The eatery would occupy street-level Space On West 30th Street near the corner of 10th Avenue and would benefit from high levels of foot traffic drawn by the nearby High Line.
Related purchased a stake in Meyer’s Union Square Events three years ago. The food hall would be located in space previously leased to supermarket Fairway, according to Crain’s. Fairway signed on to the space in 2013, but both the supermarket and Related agreed to terminate the deal.
Related has found success attracting prominent restaurateurs to Hudson Yards, with the firm recently announcing that Per Se chef Thomas Keller will open a new 15,000-square-foot restaurant in the seven-story retail mall that Related is building at Hudson Yards.
The developer is also reportedly close to a deal with celebrity chef Jose Andres to open a 13,000-square-foot restaurant at the mall, though Andres may opt to take a smaller space at the property. In total, the 1 million-square-foot mall will offer more than 100,000 square feet of fine dining. [Crain’s] – Rey Mashayekhi
