A sprawling seven-floor Upper East Side mansion owned by the daughter of a former Bear Stearns CEO is back on the market for $38.5 million three years after failing to find a buyer.
The 13,000-square-foot townhouse, at 10 East 75th Street between Fifth and Madison avenues, features a spiraling central staircase, a two-level rooftop deck, six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The Corcoran Group’s Heather Sargent is the listing broker.
Owner Alison Schneider, daughter of former Bear Stearns CEO James Cayne, bought the home with ex-husband Jack Schneider for $8.3 million in 2002, according to Curbed. Schneider acquired the property from her ex-husband for $14 million as part of their 2012 divorce settlement.
The 98-year-old home, which underwent a three-year renovation helmed by architect Peter Pennoyer and designer Victoria Hagan starting in 2002, first went on the market in 2012 for $33.5 million but was unable to find a buyer.
The mansion is located across the street from Russian billionaire and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich’s massive residential assemblage. [Curbed] – Rey Mashayekhi
