Openly gay hotelier and admitted Republican donor Ian Reisner paid $7.5 million to pick up a co-op at 230 Central Park South, a building he has been buying and flipping units in since the 90s, property records show.
Reisner, the co-owner of the city’s first gay hotel who recently admitted to donating to Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, bought unit 18F in the white-glove building known as the Southmoor House, records filed with the city today show.
The seller was listed as 230 Central Park South LLC represented by member Sam Domb, a business partner of Reisner’s who joined the hotelier in meeting with Cruz, who is a staunch opponent of same-sex marriage.
Reisner and his partners have been buying units in the building and flipping them since the mid 1990s.
Reisner said he donated to Cruz because of the senator’s support for Israel, but then requested the donation be refunded when he realized it could be misconstrued as supporting an anti-gay agenda.
Since January Reisner has purchased four other co-op units in the building totaling slightly more than $4 million, records show.
