A Cobble Hill townhouse outfitted with luxury amenities sold for $15.5 million, becoming the priciest home ever to sell in Brooklyn and crushing the previous $12.5 million record.
The prize property is a 10,000-square-foot, four-story, six-bedroom carriage house at 177 Pacific Street, featuring a 20-seat movie theater, a gym, an elevator, four parking spots, four working fireplaces, and a 2,600-square-foot roof garden.
Listing broker Alex Maroni of Douglas Elliman declined to reveal the seller or the buyer, the New York Daily News reported. The home was listed in October 2013 for $16 million.
The former record was held by Truman Capote’s one-time home at 70 Willow Street in Brooklyn heights, which went for $12.5 million in 2012.
While Brooklyn’s priciest sale still trails Manhattan’s $100.5 million record by a mile, the new record is indicative of the growing luxury market in Brooklyn, where $3 million plus townhouse sales have jumped 579% in the past five years, according to Ideal Properties. [NYDN] — Tess Hofmann
