Over the years, Chelsea’s infamous all-black loft at 213 West 23rd Street has tried and failed to find a sufficiently metal/moneyed buyer. But, sometimes a struggle pays off – the Shanghai bar-inspired home of advertising maven Cindy Gallop is in contract for $4.5 million.
The 3,750-square-foot, three-bedroom loft hit the market for $6 million back in 2013, according to Curbed. And brokers had a tough time finding a buyer who could see through the darkness. The home was also decorated with unusual decor such as a Gucci chainsaw and an AK-47 littered with Chanel logos.
Before his untimely death, the unusual apartment attracted rapper Notorious B.I.G., who used it as the set for his video “Nasty Girl.”
“They didn’t add any props,” Gallop told the Wall Street Journal. “They said it already looked like a pimp lives here.” [Curbed] – Christopher Cameron
