Some drones bomb. Some drones spy. But the unmanned aerial vehicle flying around Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights earlier this month was just minding its – or, rather, Jonathan Rose’s – own business.
The drone, which shocked neighborhood residents, was photographing the buildings at 189 Montague Street and 146 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights for Jonathan Rose Companies. The flight was part of an effort to create new renderings of the site, which are now available, the Brooklyn Eagle reported.
Rose is planning a single 19-story, 86-unit rental building on the site. Of the 18 units, 20 percent are slated to be affordable housing for tenants making 60 percent of the area median income. The building’s main entrance will be on Pierrepont Street, and no separate “poor door” is planned. It will have about 6,000 feet of commercial space, Rose told the Eagle.
Rose bought the Pierrepont Street site in January, paying $5.7 million. In February, he signed a 32-year lease, which can be extended to 40 years, with the owner of 189 Montague Street, Treeline Companies.
