Chic speakeasies and gourmet eateries are putting NYC’s Irish pubs out of business. As of this week, the Blarney Stone at 11 Trinity Place is the last location left in NYC.
On Friday, the Blarney Stone on West 47th Street shut its doors, according to Gothamist.
In 1952, there were 34 Blarney Stones in Dan Flannigan’s chain. The Blarney Stone On West 47th Street moved to its current location 13 years ago.
“This wasn’t just a bar, but a meeting place,” owner Jim D’Apollonia said. “In Ireland, every town has a great pub. For us, this was ours in Hell’s Kitchen.” [Gothamist] –Christopher Cameron
