95-story tower proposed for resurgent Jersey City waterfront
Project will compete with 99 Hudson Street for NJ height record
Surveying the Hudson from over 1,000 feet in the air, you could almost forget you were in New Jersey. Almost.
A new 95-story tower at 55 Hudson Street on the New Jersey side of the Hudson river appeared in Jersey City planning documents, joining China Construction America’s 76-story project at 99 Hudson Street.
55 Hudson will span just over 920,000 square feet, with 903,000 square feet slated for offices and 17,500 square feet for retail. The proposal also calls for 684 parking spaces, New York YIMBY reported.
No developer, completion date or design plan was listed in public documents.
If completed, the tower would be the tallest building in New Jersey, surpassing the other major project proposed for the waterfront, 99 Hudson Street. That building was initially slated to stand 990 feet, but was eventually reduced to 900 feet. China Construction America bought the site for $71 million in 2013. [NY YIMBY] – Ariel Stulberg
