Out with the old, and in with the new at the former site of the Bancroft Building.

Ziel Feldman‘s HFZ Capital filed for New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission approval to build a 64-story, nearly 800-foot-tall condo tower at 8-16 West 30th Street in NoMad, the New York Post reported.

The balcony-bedecked skyscraper, designed by Moshe Safdie, will occupy part of the site vacated by the demolished and much-beloved Bancroft Building, built in 1896.

HFZ bought shares the site in 2013 from the Marble Collegiate Church, which sits next door. The pair are developing the project as a joint venture.

In May, the firm paid $870 million for the development site at 517 West 18th Street on the High Line. [NYP]Ariel Stulberg
