The subprime mortgage crisis of the 2000s is coming back — in the form of a new film, at least.
The first trailer has arrived for “The Big Short,” a star-studded drama based on Michael Lewis’ 2010 nonfiction bestseller.
Christian Bale, Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt all appear in the trailer, which goes some way to depicting the fast-paced, reckless machinations of the housing and credit bubbles as they grew progressive larger – before eventually bursting in 2008 and sending the American and global economies into free fall.
“The Big Short” is due in theaters on Christmas. — Rey Mashayekhi
