Come Oct. 26, Apple won’t be the only tech company with a flashy, destination retail store in the heart of Manhattan.
That’s the day Microsoft is planning to open its five-level, 22,000-square-foot flagship store at 677 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, just a few blocks from Apple’s Own Fifth Avenue store, at the GM Building at 767 5th Avenue, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The tech giant will be paying an estimated $17 million per year for the location, one of the highest retail rents in the city, The Real Deal reported late last year.
Microsoft already operates a pair of smaller stores, at Columbus Circle and the Staten Island Mall. The Fifth Avenue flagship will be the company’s largest store to date.
The flagship location will include an “Answer Desk” for technical help, as well as a “Community Theater” for customers to learn about products. [WSJ] – Ariel Stulberg
