The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved new plans for Hidrock Realty’s condo conversion at the Pavilion Theater in Park Slope.
Architect Morris Adjmi’s new plans will set back the fifth floor of the building by six feet and make the cornice more prominent.
Hidrock is planning to convert the building – currently three stories and 33,000 square feet – into a six-story structure containing 24 condo units within 46,000 square feet of residential space.
The developer plans to maintain space for an indie theatre to continue to operate in the building, located at 188 Prospect Park West, DNAinfo reported.
Community residents reacted harshly to previous iterations of the plan, saying the developer needed to “tone it down,” and likening the design to that of a “penitentiary.”
The developer bought the building in 2006 for $16 million. [DNAinfo] – Ariel Stulberg
