Developer will also expand and upgrade the Caton Market

BRP Companies won a city contract to develop a new 166-unit affordable housing project with ground floor retail to replace the Caribbean-American Flatbush Caton Market.

The NYC Economic Development Corporation said at a press conference that the firm will clear the existing vendor market and erect a complex with 20 percent low-income housing, 30 percent moderate income and 50 percent middle income.
The space will also hold a new marketplace for Caton Market’s 45 vendors, space for the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce, classrooms for professional development and a commercial kitchen at 794 Flatbush Avenue, DNAinfo reported.
