Art dealer Jeffrey Deitch is eyeing an Upper East Side home known for hosting the likes of Andy Warhol and Liza Minnelli.
The home, located at 101 East 63rd Street, is listed for $40 million and belonged to fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, known only as “Halston.” Artist Gunter Sachs was the most recent owner. The home was listed for $38.5 million after Sachs’ death in 2011, but a buyer never materialized.
According to the New York Post, the home is known for its storied party guests, which included Andy Warhol, supermodel Pat Cleveland, Liza Minnelli and other so-called “Halstonettes,” a term used to describe Halston’s cadre of models and artists.
Broker Daniel Joory of Engel & Völkers appears to have the listing. According to the newspaper, Eugenio Lopez Alonzo, the heir to Mexican juice giant Grupo Jumex, may also be interested in the Halston house. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
