Don’t tell Ian Schrager the city’s ultra-luxe condo market is softening — the hotelier and developer is asking between $75 million and $80 million for the penthouse at his 160 Leroy Street luxury condo development in the West Village.
The five-bedroom, 12,200-square-foot penthouse will span the entire roof of the 50-unit building, designed by Basel-based architects Herzog & de Meuron. The apartment will feature three kitchens – Including One On Its Private Rooftop Terrace – as well as three wood-burning fireplaces and a master suite with separate entrance.
In addition, both a spiral staircase and internal elevator will lead to its nearly 7,400-square-foot roof terrace, which will hold a 31-foot-long private pool, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Amenities at 160 Leroy Street will include a landscaped courtyard, fitness center, 70-foot-long pool and hotel services provided by 215 Chrystie Street – a nearby hotel and condo also developed by Schrager and set for completion this fall.
The development, slated for the completion next year, is notable for a design comprised nearly entirely of curved walls. Units start at $2.4 million and while sales are officially launching next week, they started quietly this past fall – with the building already about half sold. [WSJ] – Rey Mashayekhi
