After a brief stint as a sales agent, longtime sales director Robert Doernberg will join the management team at the Corcoran Group.

Doernberg, a 21-year veteran of Warburg Realty, who spent the last 15 months at Brown Harris Stevens, will be the senior managing director of Corcoran’s flagship office at 660 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side, the firm announced Thursday.

Doernberg joined Brown Harris Stevens as an agent in 2014, after serving as a sales director at Warburg for 10 years. At the time, Warburg was undergoing a management shakeup, including an all-new marketing team. But Doernberg, at the time, said his move had nothing to do with his former firm, and instead was motivated by his desire to return to the brokerage side of the business.

Regarding his latest move, Doernberg told The Real Deal that he was not looking to leave Brown Harris when Corcoran called, but wanted to return to managing agents.

He said being an agent again gave him a renewed appreciation for how difficult the business is. “Sometimes change is good,” he said.
