Macquesten Development plans to construct a 130-unit rental complex in East New York, according to a permit application filed Monday.
The Westchester-based developer filed plans for a building at 677 Van Sinderen Avenue, a site the company bought in January 2015 for $950,000, records show. The project, called Van Sinderen Plaza, is expected to have a total of 130 apartments and have 17,341 square feet of ground-floor retail space, Rella Fogliano, president of Macquesten, told The Real Deal. Monday’s permit application was for part of the project: a seven-story building with 102 units that will span a total 112,378 square feet and will reach 75 feet tall.
The second through fourth floors of this building will each have 19 apartments, while the fifth and sixth floors will have 18 units on each floor and the seventh floor will have nine, according to the application. The building will also feature a recreation room on the second floor, a terrace on the seventh floor and a 21-car parking garage.
Macquesten recently completed an affordable housing project called Mother Arnetta Crawford Housing in the Bronx’s Crotona Park East neighborhood.
Correction: An earlier version of this story didn’t specify that the permit application was for only one of the project’s buildings. The project will have a total of 130 units.
