Privacy in New York City comes at a premium — the former townhouse of Famed Broadway composer Cole Porter in secluded Sniffen Court is now on the market for about $6.5 million.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom 3,865-square-feet home at 156 East 36th Street in Murray Hill is part of the celebrity haven known as Sniffen Court — 10 townhouses in a secret, gated community. Past residents include Claudia Schiffer and Lenny Kravitz. Talk show host Graham Norton currently lives there.
Porter, whose hit songs include “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” lived at the four-story home, which was at one time used as stables during the Civil War era and an engraver’s studio in the early 1900s. Porter maintained another residence in the Waldorf Towers.
