The mayor’s plan to build a waterfront streetcar connecting Brooklyn and Queens would also include bike and pedestrian paths, city officials said Friday.
The city is considering building two new bridges to carry the streetcars over the Gowanus and Newton Creek. Those bridges would include bike and walking paths, the Daily News reported.
The project, dubbed BQX, would cost and estimated $2.5 billion.
Meanwhile, manufacturer holdouts along the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront are concerned about a property tax hike, and ultimately displacement, if the planned 16-mile streetcar line becomes a reality. [NYDN] –Christopher Cameron
