Brooklyn Brewery is looking for 60,000 square feet to relocate its brewing operation. The Brooklyn Navy Yard and Industry City are in the running as potential spots.

Currently, the brewery has a facility at 79 North 11th Street in Williamsburg, where it makes many of its specialty beers. The space also features a tasting room, a retail shop and gives those visiting an opportunity to watch beer being made.

While its lease isn’t up for nine years, there is “zero” possibility to renew, Eric Ottaway, the company’s chief operating officer and general manager, told Crain’s. Owner Yoel Goldman put the 35,000-square-foot warehouse that houses the brewery and others up for sale last year.

“What is tricky is finding a space where we can do the manufacturing but also have the retail be an important component,” Ottaway told Crain’s. “It’s hard to find a neighborhood that has the level of visibility that Williamsburg has.”

Building 77 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard will have a food hall and manufacturing space. Russ & Daughters, the legendary family-run Lower East Side store, will anchor the 60,000-square-feet food hall.

Industry City, the waterfront industrial complex at 882 Third Avenue in Sunset Park, has some of the city’s largest floor plates. Jamestown and its partners’ complex is attracting tech tenants to flavor-maker companies.

The brewery also has plans to relocate its current brewing upstate brewing plant in Utica to a $70 million, 200,000-square-foot facility on Staten Island, Crain’s reported. Staten Island Marine Development is developing the site on the island’s western shore. [Crain’s]Dusica Sue Malesevic
