John K. Lord, a senior executive at family-run ATCO Properties & Management, shot his wife to death and then killed himself with her gun last month, according to news reports.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Feb. 12, Lord, 65, called 911, the Journal News reported. He told the police he had shot his wife, Irene, at their home in Wesley Hills, a village in Ramapo.

Responding officers who arrived at the scene then heard two additional shots.

Lord [TRData] died en route to the hospital. He left no letter and an investigation into the cause of the murder-suicide is ongoing, Mark Emma, a detective with the Ramapo Police in Rockland County, told The Real Deal.

“Nothing has popped off the page as an obvious cause,” he said, adding that the couple “appeared to be well liked at work” and that no financial or health issues have surfaced thus far in the investigation.

Lord joined ATCO in 1991. An ATCO spokesperson told the Commercial Observer the firm was “deeply saddened and shocked by this terrible tragedy.”

Lord graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx and then Lehman College, where he majored in political science and pre-law. Prior to ATCO, he was a broker at Peregrine White Co.
