Jonathan Davis, who was fired by Compass this month, decided to sue the firm and then withdrew his complaint just hours later, has now landed at Brown Harris Stevens.
Davis will join BHS’ Southampton office, the firm announced Monday.
Davis is the son of the Corcoran Group’s Tim Davis, who topped The Real Deal’s ranking of top Hamptons agents in 2015. After working with his father for two years, Davis left Corcoran this year for Compass. But after just six weeks at the firm, Compass fired him for allegedly making “unreasonable monetary demands,” as TRD reported.
On March 15, Davis sued Compass, claiming the brokerage didn’t honor the financial terms of his contract and then fired him when he protested. But just two hours after he filed the suit, he withdrew it.
Davis’ latest move adds further drama to the rivalry between Compass and BHS, which are competing aggressively in both Manhattan and the Hamptons.
In late 2014, when top-producing agent Kyle Blackmon left BHS for Compass, BHS president Hall Willkie said his former agent chose the “equity proposition” offered by his new employer over a “singular focus on brokerage.” Of Compass, he added: “The value of Kyle’s or anyone’s equity will be depending on the success of [the firm’s] founders… selling their company for substantially more than many industry experts believe is possible.”
Last year, BHS sued former Hamptons manager Ed Reale, who defected to Compass, for allegedly violating a noncompete with BHS. That suit is ongoing.
