As part of the March issue, The Real Deal interviewed stakeholders in the fight over popular short-term rental service Airbnb. Despite its popularity and a sky-high valuation of $25.5 billion, the San Francisco-based startup has faced both praise and opposition around the globe. In 2010, the New York state legislature passed a law that prevents tenants from renting out their apartments for 30 days or less unless they were home during the duration of the stay.
