Four Seasons restaurant moving to site “5 minutes” away from Seagram Building

The famed Four Seasons restaurant likely won’t stray too far from its longtime Seagram Building home upon closing this July, with the establishment set to move into a new location “about five minutes’ walking distance” away, according to co-owner Alex von Bidder.

The Four Seasons will close July 16 after a drawn-out conflict with RFR Holding chief and Seagram Building owner Aby Rosen, who opted not to renew the restaurant’s lease and is bringing in a new eatery helmed by restaurateurs Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick.

While the Four Seasons will probably close for about a year after its departure from the Seagram Building, von Bidder said the restaurant has eyes on a new location within walking distance of the landmarked space it has called home since 1959, according to Bloomberg.

Von Bidder and Four Seasons partner Julian Niccolini are still in talks with potential landlords over a new space, having hired CBRE brokers Michael Laginesta and Michael Geoghegan to help with the search.

Previously mooted locations for the new Four Seasons include SL Green Realty and Vornado Realty Trust’s 280 Park Avenue – a possibility given its proximity to the Seagram Building’s 475 Park Avenue address.

Fosun International’s 28 Liberty Street in the Financial District has also been raised as a possibility, though that appears unlikely given its distance from the restaurant’s current home. [Bloomberg]Rey Mashayekhi
