Cathy Taub, a longtime top producer at Stribling & Associates, has jumped to Sotheby’s International Realty after 14 years at the firm.
She will work out of the Sotheby’s Upper East Side office alongside Brenda Powers, Elizabeth Sample, Serena Boardman and Stan Ponte, according to a statement from the company.
Taub’s departure is likely a hit for Stribling. Taub says she has sold more than $1 billion in properties over her 13-year career and she ranked 51st on The Real Deal’s most recent Manhattan agent ranking based on the total dollar value of her listings.
She recently sold an apartment at 151 East 78th Street to Katie Couric for more than $12 million and had represented Cary Tamarkin in the pre-development phase of his High Line condo project at 508 West 24th Street alongside Stribling colleague Alexa Lambert.
Taub, A Former Wall Street attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reasons for her move.
“Cathy is a very intelligent, driven and successful agent,” said Elizabeth Ann Stribling-Kivlan. “We wish her a continued great career.”
The new addition is likely a boon for Sotheby’s, which recently lost one of its top-producing agents, Roger Erickson, TRD previously reported. Top producer Brenda Powers also left the company earlier this year but returned after bouncing around to several other brokerages.
Both firms appear to be on the upswing. Stribling posted a 26 percent rise in the total value of its listings, to $692.7 million, over the past year, according to TRD’s most recent count. Meanwhile, Sotheby’s had $1.8 billion in listings, a 32 percent rise year-over-year.
