Wendy Maitland out at Town: sources

Brokerage's president of sales has stepped down amid merger talks with the Agency

Wendy Maitland, one of the founding members of Town Residential and its president of sales, is leaving the firm, The Real Deal has learned.

The reasons for Maitland’s departure remain unclear. She did not respond to multiple requests for comment, and representatives for Town couldn’t be reached for comment.

Maitland joined Town at its inception in December 2010 from Brown Harris Stevens and became one of the company’s most influential executives, alongside other stalwarts such as executive vice president Itzy Garay and managing director Melissa Van Damm. The three stood by the company amid a public dispute in 2014 — that was later settled — between Heiberger and company co-owner Joseph Sitt over the company’s finances.

Town is in the midst of talks to enter a merger with Los Angeles-based brokerage the Agency, as TRD reported earlier this month. The firm closed $872.9 million in sell-side deals last year, up 65 percent from 2015, according to TRD’s most recent brokerage ranking.

Town competitor Douglas Elliman, the city’s largest residential firm, also saw a major shakeup earlier this month, with chief marketing officer Nicole Oge‘s departure.
